Lever Lock Handles

BACKGROUND

The first generation Lever Lock handle (MK1) was released several years ago. Unfortunately, the manufacturer of these handles failed to maintain the quality standards required and a number of the handles they produced for us were not up to scratch. Due to the length of the building process and the time it took for the handles to fail, it took a couple of years before we started receiving consistent feedback that some handles were starting to break.
We are really sorry that some of our customers have experienced this problem. If you have been one of the unlucky ones to have had issues with the original Lever Lock handle, here’s an update on what we have done to address this and how we can help you.

WHAT WE HAVE DONE ABOUT IT

As soon as we realised there was a problem with certain batches of handles, we worked with the manufacturer of the Lever Lock to improve the performance of the product. Each new design was tested and rejected until we were confident the new version of the handle met our quality performance criteria. These tests show the new handle is at least seven times stronger than the original and will not snap with normal everyday use.
The manufacturer's warranty period for any moving part such as door handles, hinges or rollers is two years. This is standard across the window industry. However, even though the original MK1 Lever Lock handle is now outside this warranty period, Jason Windows will happily provide new handles free of charge regardless of how long ago it was supplied. Also, it doesn’t matter whether you are the original owner of the home or not.

I HAVE A BROKEN HANDLE

If your MK1 lever lock handle has broken under normal everyday use, you have two options:

  1. Replace the handle yourself, by returning the broken handle to Jason Windows in Welshpool or Bunbury to receive a FREE replacement set. Both sides of the handle must be returned. If you have more than one Lever Lock handle in your home but only one has broken, we recommend you bring in all of them for a FREE replacement, even if they are not broken. This will avoid potential inconvenience for you in the future.
  2. Alternatively, if you would like one of our technicians to come out and replace the broken handle along with the other Lever Lock handles in your home, we will do this for the reduced call out rate of $99 (normally $150). All replacement handles fitted by our technicians will be FREE. So your total cost for us to come out and do this for you is $99.

WHAT IS JASON WINDOWS DOING DIFFERENTLY TO IDENTIFY POTENTIAL PRODUCT QUALITY ISSUES?

We remain committed to providing quality products to the WA building industry, as we have for over 50 years, and maintain our focus on continually improving the products we supply.

To support this, Jason Windows has developed an R&D facility with unique testing capabilities - the first of its kind in Western Australia. In addition to our Australian Standards quality assurance, we take product testing one step further by testing components (such as handles) from our suppliers before they are released to the market.

You can see our lever lock handle strength test video on this page. It shows the strength of the new lever lock handle against the original MK1 handle.

You can read more about our commitments to product quality here and also view our full R&D facility video.
